We’re off to the county fair today. My youngest is in 4-H this year. She’s the first of our family to be in a 4-H club. We tried to get into a Clover Kids club when my oldest was in fourth grade, but we didn’t find a club we clicked with.
I think 4-H (so far) has been great. The personal development and leadership skills involved make me think that this is something better than scouting. It’s got more support than scouting (boy and girl) in different areas in my experience. I guess it depends on what the family’s goal is when they look at different activities.
After the fair is done, I’m sure I’ll have many pictures for Crafty Monday to share because we have many talented people in the county. I may have frugal tips that were generated by some county fair exhibits — there is a $15 clothing challenge for teen girls and boys!
The 4-H Building is air-conditioned and parking is nearby and FREE. Admission is free, too. A freewill barbecue dinner runs during the fair king and queen coronation this evening from 6 – 7:30. Maybe I’ll see you there?
