I win things sometimes, and they are always a surprise because I don’t expect to win. But once I get them, they sometimes have to grow on me. Can you relate?
1. The immersion blender I won at I_Blog Conference. You can see me making fruit leather with it in the photo above. “How silly,” I thought to myself. “I’ve gotten along fine for years without one and never felt the urge to buy one.” Darcy said, “You could make great coffee drinks with that.” I was doubtful of this appliance’s usefulness. Now? LOVE IT!
2. My Oakley gym towel. I entered Oakley’s Perform Beautifully contest. I didn’t win, but the company sent a gym towel. It’s got a big pink “O” on it. “How silly,” I thought to myself. “I’ve gotten along fine for years without one and never felt the urge to take my own towel to the gym.” Then I used it. Very plush, very absorbent, distinctively different from everyone else’s. I LOVE IT!
(photo coming soon)
3. My wall art from Miranda Muller. Much of her work is portraits of the very young. I’ve liked her worked and it inspired my older daughter’s smelt two years ago. “How silly,” I thought to myself. “I don’t have young children.” I then moved to, “How about a portrait of a house? I always wanted to make a diorama of our house, but I do not have patience or precision for great work like Larissa. Would Miranda’s innate tendencies work for a house?” Yes. LOVE IT.
