Frugal Tuesday Tip: Happy New Year

I’m reflecting on the gift-receiving expectations that this season brings. I discuss frugality frequently, but right now, I want to talk about a wonderful and FREE gift – having a kind spirit.

Having just left a ski slope in the great state of Washington, I was very impressed with the generous, encouraging, caring nature of everyone on the slopes out here. With the temperature keeping the snowfall extremely wet, it could have been easy to grump at everyone, yet I didn’t hear grumpiness. Happy people help me feel and stay happy. It was as though the positive, helpful nature of the skiers was a gift on what could have been viewed as a really dreary day.
Along the same lines, when I’ve been generous with my spirit, instead of stingy, I notice that I’ve received generosity unexpectedly in return. This kind of reciprocity can be wonderful for my morale. Surely others have the same reaction.
Additionally, I remember people better when we exchange in a positive manner. If someone was truly appreciative of my action and expressed it, I remember that, and am more prone to be generous again. Positive feeds positive.

My Frugal Tuesday Tip is to be generous of spirit – it’s free and has big rewards.

It’s time for the Frugal Tuesday Tip!

  1. Hmmmm…..I can’t submit a link and can’t see anyone else’s. The other hosts don’t have anything up on their blogs for it, I don’t think. Technology. Blah.
