I tried method 1 without the pillowcase and here is what I got:

It works! I always folded in halves, so I learned that thirds is the way to go. I have typically used thirds for bath towels and cloth napkins. Why not sheets? The edges are nice on both sides. I’m not going back to the old way of halves.
